September 2016 Fashion Covers Revealed

In the words of former US Vogue Creative Director Candy Pratts Price, September is the January of fashion. Not only do brands and magazines compete for the best stars, but it's also the month of New York Fashion week. Here, LUXE Models reveals the September 2016 fashion covers.

Major month

Vogue editor Anna Wintour is perhaps the most iconic person in the industry today. She is the ultimate trendsetter so when she does something, other fashion magazine editors follow. One of the most notable policies Anna has set up at Vogue is making September the magazine’s standout month.

Who What Wear reveals that R.J. Cutler’s 2009 documentary, The September Issue, was a landmark moment in fashion. Cutler’s piece chronicled the process of making Vogue’s iconic September issue, pushing this concept into the mainstream. Today major fashion publications, from Vogue and Elle to Marie Claire and Glamour compete every year to see who has the biggest September issue.

Vogue and Elle

We already knew what to expect from Vogue this year.  LUXE Models previously wrote that model and Instagram star Kendall Jenner was fronting Vogue’s September 2016 issue. With Kendall rocking the modern Marie Antoinette look, complete with a pink ribbon-adorned, black and gold matador jack and matching trousers, Vogue made it clear that head-to-toe patterns are so hot right now!

We also knew ahead of time that Elle UK would release five September 2016 covers, including one featuring Zayn Malik. Elle US has now launched its 2016 September 2016 issue, which depicts Cara Delevingne on the front. Elle US opted to champion the sequin overload trend that’s really popular right now, dressing Cara in a purple sequined, disco diva style outfit that just screams fabulous!

E! Online recently featured a round-up of September 2016 covers. We have to give props to Glamour, whose cover featured mega-star fashion model Bella Hadid. Glamour’s cover, interestingly, wasn’t about the clothes, with Bella rocking a diamond-encrusted shirt and a red hoodie. The centrepiece was her bare-faced beauty look, showing that the minimal make-up trend has never been cooler.

Marie Claire, Allure, Cosmopolitan and InStlye went with celebrities over models. Championing surprise sequins, Sarah Jessica Parker appeared on Marie Claire, looking so chic in sequins and sheer. Allure chose actress Jessica Alba for their cover, adorning the actress in a delicately feminine pink vest top with cut-out patterns, illustrating that understated clothing is a major force in fashion right now.

Nobody could call the Cosmopolitan cover, which starred Gwen Stefani, understated. The Hollaback girl looked awesome, rocking a bright gold, precious stone-adorned, cut-out dress, going total bombshell. InStyle opted for a softer look, dressing its cover star, actress Kerry Washington, in autumn ingénue chic, making it clear that green and plum is set to be the colour pallet of the next season!

Guiding your style

With their September 2016 covers, the biggest fashion magazines in the world have revealed the coming season’s hottest trends. If you’re an aspiring model, pour over these issues, so you can wear the latest styles while shooting the pictures you’ll need to build your modelling portfolio! Cara Delevingne to make her TV debut

Luxe Models were pleased to see that Cara Delevingne will make her television debut in the latest Sky Arts series ‘Playhouse Presents’, where she will star in a war-time drama.

The 21-year old model will star in a one-off production called Timeless alongside Sylvia Syms. The show will tell the story of two women who have been separated from their lovers during the war.

Delevingne will play Chloe, a young girl whose soldier fiancé is away fighting in Afghanistan. She is looking after her great-grandmother (Syms), when a knock on the door brings devastating news about her young lover.

The two women then bond over their shared experience of loss, love and hope. The episode was written by Tim Firth, whose previous credits include Calendar Girls and Confessions of a Shopaholic. It is scheduled to show on UK television on the 19th of June.

While this is Cara’s first televisual outing, she is no stranger to the acting world. She starred in 2012’s Anna Karenina and is due to appear in Face of an Angel, a movie based on the story surrounding the murder of Meredith Kercher.

Delevingne has said that while she adores modelling and really appreciates the opportunities it has opened up for her, acting is her real passion. So is this the start of a new career? Hopefully she’ll maintain both! She’s been busy lately modelling for Stella McCartney and will be headed for the Chanel runway at Paris Fashion Week.

Tattoos; This Season's Trend

So it seems the latest trend amongst celebrities is tattooing your body- with the more tattoos covering your skin the better- a trend that Luxe Models won’t be copying. Three people who are considerably eye-catching due to their tattoos are Cher Lloyd, Harry Styles and Cara Delevingne  unfortunately for them though although the tattoos may be eye-catching, they’re not necessarily nice.

Cher Lloyd wowed at the recent Teen Choice Awards with her new hair-do, which was a sleek and sophisticated cropped style. However, although her hair-do and natural make-up suited her one thing really let her down, her arm tattoos. It’s sort of a given that once you start inking a large proportion of your body you will no longer be able to pull off the sophisticated look, yet Cher decided to give it a go, but unfortunately she could not pull it off. Furthermore the tattoos looked miss-matched and out of place, with no real pattern or theme going on. The tattoos on her arms include skulls, love hearts, quotes and question marks and although Cher has previously said, “I don’t have a favourite tattoo. I like all of my tattoos. I don’t think I’ll regret any of them” we somehow think she will.

Then there’s Harry Styles, who seems to have treated his body like a piece of paper, doodling on it, writing random words and just in general causing a mess. His tattoos consist of birds, stars and literally scribble. Although he can pull it off slightly more than Cher, (solemnly because he’s a lad) there is still no denying that he looks absolutely hideous.

Cara Delevingne’s tattoos on the other hand are quite interesting and pleasing to look at. She currently has the head of a lion tattooed on one of her fingers, which looks more like art work than a tattoo (we know that tattoos are all essentially art-work but this tattoo is one that people would actually want to look at). However, just as we thought Cara was the sensible one she recently got ‘Made In England’ tattooed to the sole of her foot, (ouch) thankfully with it being on the sole of her foot it is easily covered, we just hope she doesn’t go down the same path as Cher and Harry.

Some tattoos can be beautiful and really meaningful, however, these young stars need to remember that this latest trend isn’t something they can just throw away, but something that takes a lot of money and pain to have removed.
